Elwood, N.J. — September 27 — The Elwood Volunteer Fire Company, Station 160, responded at 2:52 p.m. to an activated fire alarm at 4001 Reading Avenue in Elwood. Crews from 1600 and 16-5 arrived on scene and determined that the activation was caused by a dirty detector.
Firefighters cleaned the detector, reset the system, and confirmed there was no active hazard before clearing the scene. Department leaders emphasized that routine maintenance of alarm systems can help reduce unnecessary activations and ensure early detection in an actual emergency.
