Leonia, N.J. — September 28 — Units LE 7, 8, and Rescue 1 of Leonia Fire Department Company No. 1 were called to the Interstate 95 express lanes at 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in response to a reported overturned vehicle with a utility pole on top of it. When crews arrived, they worked with Teaneck Squad 23 and discovered a seven-vehicle collision with reported injuries. By the time the first units arrived, everyone inside the car had been released. While crews waited for JCP&L to de-energize the wires, the fire on the downed pole had extinguished itself. After the power was turned off, staff helped clean up the scene and remove debris. While utility repairs were being made, traffic was stopped. In less than two hours, the department cleared the scene.
