Afternoon Dwelling Fire Escalates to Second Alarm in Holmdel; Keyport Operates

Keyport, NJ - Regional mutual aid was mobilized Friday afternoon as a working structure fire inside a large private residence escalated to a second alarm in Holmdel Township.

Just before 4:00 p.m. on September 4, 2026, emergency crews responded to Box 1830 for a confirmed fire burning within a sizable residential dwelling.

Due to the size of the structure and the rapid fire progression, incident commanders struck a second alarm, summoning additional truck and engine companies from neighboring communities. Among the mutual aid responders, the Keyport Fire Department deployed Truck Company 22 to the scene with a crew of six firefighters.

Arriving as the second-due ladder company, Truck 22 personnel split tactical assignments to support simultaneous fireground operations.

Members initiated interior search operations to confirm the large home was clear of occupants while coordinating directly with engine companies on active fire suppression and ventilation to knock down the flames and prevent further structural extension.
