Engine 733 and Quint 3 Extinguish Commercial Vehicle Fire Near Mile Marker 28.0

Westville, NJ - Firefighters from Westville and Bellmawr responded to Interstate 295 northbound on Thursday midday after a commercial vehicle caught fire along the highway corridor.

At approximately 11:51 a.m. on September 3, 2026, emergency units were dispatched to I-295 northbound near mile marker 28.0 following reports of an active commercial vehicle fire. Responding apparatus included Westville Engine 733, Bellmawr Quint 3, and Battalion 3.

Bellmawr Quint 3 arrived first on scene to find the commercial vehicle involved in fire along the shoulder. The crew deployed a front bumper-mounted 1 3/4-inch handline to launch an initial attack on the flames.

Westville Engine 733 arrived shortly behind, establishing a water supply to support Quint 3 and deploying additional firefighters to assist with fire suppression and overhaul. The joint response quickly brought the blaze under control and prevented further hazard spread along the interstate corridor.
