Motorcyclist Airlifted Following I-80 Crash in Hope Township

Fire, rescue and EMS personnel operated at a motorcycle crash on Interstate 80 that required aeromedical transport of the injured rider.

The incident occurred at approximately 10:45–10:47 a.m. on September 23, 2026, on I-80 westbound near milepost 11.8 in Hope Township, New Jersey. Hope Volunteer Fire Department Station 38 and Rescue 46 were dispatched to the crash.

According to New Jersey State Police, the 58-year-old rider lost control of a Harley-Davidson while changing lanes. The motorcycle overturned, ejecting the rider and causing serious injuries. The crash remained under investigation following the incident.

Emergency personnel requested an aeromedical response, and Hope firefighters established a landing zone directly on the interstate for Atlantic Air One. The patient was transferred to the flight crew and transported by helicopter to a regional trauma center.

Fire and rescue personnel remained on the highway to support the landing-zone operation and maintain scene safety while the patient was transferred for air transport.
