Mutual-Aid Crews Assist Wood-Ridge in Morning Attic Fire on Union Avenue

Wood-Ridge, N.J. — September 12, 2025 —A reported smoke situation at a residence in the 300 block of Union Avenue on Friday at approximately 9:23 a.m. prompted the Wood-Ridge Fire Department to respond. Active fire in the building's attic was confirmed by first-arriving crews. In order to put out the fire and prevent it from spreading to other areas of the house, firefighters extended hoselines to the attic. The incident was brought under control by the coordinated attack without spreading to nearby regions. One firefighter was taken to a nearby hospital for assessment after suffering minor injuries during operations. Mutual-aid support came from Hasbrouck Heights, Carlstadt, Wallington, and Moonachie Fire Departments. Little Ferry Fire Department covered the borough during the incident, ensuring ongoing protection for the community while primary units were engaged at the scene. The fire was declared under control and all Wood-Ridge units returned to service at approximately 11:15 a.m.
