Police Assist Resident from Burning Francis Place Home; One Evaluated at Hospital

Montclair, NJ - A resident was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation Monday evening after emergency personnel responded to a working kitchen fire at a home on Francis Place.

On the evening of September 14, Montclair Fire Department Group 3 companies were dispatched to a residential address on Francis Place following reports of an active structure fire. First-arriving firefighters encountered an active fire conditions centered within the home's kitchen area.

Crews advanced hose lines into the residence and achieved a rapid knockdown of the flames, successfully containing the fire before it could extend into adjacent living spaces or the upper floors of the structure.

Officers from the Montclair Police Department (PBA Local 53) on scene assisted an occupant out of the smoke-filled residence. The individual was subsequently transferred to Montclair EMS paramedics, who provided on-scene assessment before transporting the resident by ambulance to an area hospital for medical evaluation.

Following complete extinguishment and ventilation operations to clear residual smoke, the scene was turned over to Montclair Fire Department investigators, who are working to establish the official cause and origin of the blaze.
