Precautionary Airport Alert: Disabled Aircraft Touches Down Safely in Fairfield

Fairfield, NJ - Firefighters with the Fairfield Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched Thursday morning to Essex County Airport (CDW) following reports of an incoming aircraft experiencing a mid-flight loss of power.
On the morning of September 23, emergency dispatchers alerted airport ground personnel and municipal first responders to an inbound plane that had suffered an in-flight engine or electrical power malfunction while en route to the airfield.
Fairfield Fire Department units, including Engine 1 and Engine 3, mobilized immediately to the airport grounds and assumed a staged standby posture along the runway, prepared to initiate rapid fire suppression and rescue operations in the event of an off-runway excursion or hard impact.
The pilot managed to maneuver the disabled aircraft toward the runway and completed a safe landing without incident or damage. Responders stood down once the plane touched down cleanly and the scene was rendered safe by airport personnel.
