Roseland Crews Contain Davenport Avenue Garage Fire

Roseland firefighters, assisted by mutual-aid companies from Livingston and West Caldwell, operated at a residential garage fire that was contained before extending into the home's living area.

The Roseland Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 9:40 p.m. on September 5, 2026, to Davenport Avenue in Roseland, New Jersey. Chief 673 arrived first, established command and confirmed a working fire. The homeowner reported that all occupants had evacuated before the fire department's arrival.

Squad 662 established a water supply and its crew advanced the initial crosslay into the garage. Truck 665 personnel conducted searches and ventilation, while Engine 661 stretched a backup line. Rescue 664 assisted with fireground operations.

Firefighters contained the fire to the garage. Livingston and West Caldwell fire departments provided mutual aid and coverage during the incident, while the Roseland First Aid Squad handled firefighter rehabilitation.

Utility 668 supported the operation by transporting depleted SCBA cylinders for refilling and moving used hose for post-incident cleaning and decontamination.

Preliminary information indicated that an electrical problem involving a battery or battery-charging device was being considered as a possible origin of the fire. The cause remained under investigation by the Roseland Police Department at the time of the incident report.
