31 August 2025 - It was another busy weekend for local firefighters. On Saturday, members assisted with preparations for the football team’s bonfire and pep rally, later standing by during the evening event.

Earlier in the day, crews were dispatched to a serious motorcycle accident on Deckertown Turnpike in Montague, where they assisted with a road closure while the patient was airlifted by NorthSTAR medevac.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. Sunday, units responded to a report of a deck fire attached to a residence. Because the fire involved an extension of the house, Hardyston Fire Department was requested to serve as the RIC team. The homeowner had quickly applied water to the fire, keeping it under control until firefighters arrived. Crews checked for extension, removed burned material, and cleared the scene after an investigation by the fire official. All units were back in service by 3 a.m.

Officials reminded the community to stay safe over the Labor Day weekend.
