House Fire Claims Lives of Two Teens in Paulding County

Dallas, Georgia, September 24, 2022. At 3:20PM, on Friday September 23rd, Paulding County 911 received a call for a house fire at 53 Baskin Road, located the Temple community.
Prior to fire department arrival, several neighbors called and advised seeing large flames and popping sounds coming from the home.

Eight minutes after dispatch (at 3:28PM), first arriving fire department units reported the home to be 50% engulfed in flames. Noting a car in the driveway, and unsure if anyone was home at the time, crews immediately initiated interior search & rescue operations.

Within minutes, two juveniles were located on the home’s upper level and brought to the front yard where emergency medical care was initiated. Sadly, a 17-year-old male was pronounced deceased on the scene. A 13-year-old male was transported emergency to Tanner Villa Rica Hospital and was later pronounced deceased as well. Nobody else was home at the time of the fire.

According the Paulding County Coroner the victim’s names are Robert Deaton (17 years old) and Caleb Deaton (13 years old).

Following standard protocol for fatal fires, PCFD’s Investigators have requested assistance from the State of Georgia’s Fire Marshall to lead the investigation into the cause and origin of the fire.
