The portions of the township were impacted by a severe thunderstorm accompanied by high winds. The area of Zion Road, Long Hill Road, and Montgomery Road sustained the most significant damage on the west side of town. Firefighters from Station 36, including on-duty career staff, along with members of Neshanic Fire Company, responded to multiple incidents in the affected area.

Crews conducted assessments, documented visible structural damage, and identified downed wires, with all findings reported to the Township’s Emergency Operations Center. At the same time, across town, crews from Fire Companies 2 and 3 handled similar storm-related incidents. Fire Company 2’s brush unit was also dispatched to assist on Zion Road.

In total, 22 separate incidents were recorded in the Zion area. Units operating included Deputy 36, Engine 36, and Ladder 36, while an additional crew remained on standby at the firehouse.

In the aftermath, officials reminded residents using portable generators to take precautions against carbon monoxide entering their homes and to ensure they have a working fire extinguisher available. Residents were also strongly urged to stay away from downed wires.
