Sept. 10, 2025 — The Berkshire Volunteer Fire Department welcomed the New York State Association of Fire Chiefs (NYSAFC) Seminar Series last night, featuring the program Short-Handed Firefighting.
The seminar was led by Past Chief and Coordinator of Education Mike Healy and Firefighter/Instructor Jeff Daniels. Chiefs, officers, and firefighters from Berkshire, Caroga Lake, Pleasant Square, and Round Lake fire departments attended the training.
The program addressed one of the most pressing challenges facing the volunteer fire service today: staffing shortages. As organizers noted, “the title says it all.”
