September 18, 2025 — The Banksville Fire Department participated in a multi-agency training exercise this past week hosted by the Bedford Hills Fire Department, focusing on water supply operations in areas without traditional hydrant access.
Firefighters from Banksville, Katonah Fire Department, and Pound Ridge Volunteer Fire Department joined forces to practice drafting from a dry hydrant and establishing a fill site for tanker shuttle operations. The training simulated moving and circulating water from a remote source to maintain a continuous supply during a fire.
Water supply operations are a critical skill for suburban and rural departments where hydrant coverage may be limited. Training alongside neighboring agencies helps improve coordination and ensures crews are better prepared for large-scale incidents.
The Banksville Fire Department thanked Bedford Hills for hosting the exercise and commended all participating departments for their teamwork and dedication.
