Bloomfield, N.J. — September 22 — On Monday, Bloomfield firemen Okuniewicz and Astudillo conducted CPR training for members of a nearby church. The program taught participants crucial lifesaving techniques such as chest compressions, rescue breathing, and the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs).
The agency has prioritized public CPR instruction, highlighting how bystander intervention can improve survival rates in cardiac emergencies before professional rescuers arrive. National studies suggest that bystander CPR can increase or even triple the chances of survival in out-of-hospital cardiac arrests.
