Upper Deerfield, N.J. — August 17 — This morning, the Upper Deerfield Fire Department’s Station 33 crews conducted water rescue training drills at Sunset Lake, making use of favorable conditions to sharpen response skills.
Personnel practiced scenarios involving victim retrieval, swim rescues, and deployment of floatation devices. Training in calm-water environments like lake settings allows teams to refine their coordination and speed before moving to more complex swift-water or hazardous conditions. According to industry guidance, water rescue training should address levels from awareness and shore-based rescue up to technician swim entries and craft operations.
