September 16, 2025 — Members of the Broome County Office of Emergency Services joined the Broome County Sheriff’s Department to participate in the 6th Annual “Chalk the Walk, Have the Talk” campaign. The initiative is part of World Suicide Prevention Month and is aimed at raising awareness about mental health and suicide prevention.
Colorful chalk messages of hope, resilience, and encouragement now greet visitors at the entrance to the Broome County Public Safety Facility and the Emergency Services entrance. The campaign underscores the importance of starting conversations around mental health and letting residents know that support is available.
The effort was organized in partnership with Broome County Suicide Awareness for Everyone (BC SAFE), a coalition dedicated to reducing the stigma around mental health struggles and connecting community members with resources.
