Binghamton Fire to Honor Fallen Heroes

The City of Binghamton Fire Department will hold a solemn ceremony on Monday, September 29, 2025. to honor the memory of Chief John Cox, Captain Donald McGeever, and Firefighter John Russell, who gave their lives in the line of duty 50 years ago.


The remembrance will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Rockbottom Dam Memorial Site on Conklin Avenue, where firefighters, families, and community members will gather to reflect on the sacrifice and legacy of the f?allen brothers.


This year marks the 50th anniversary of their passing, a milestone that underscores both the enduring loss and the unwavering commitment of the fire service to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.


The Binghamton Fire Department continues to stand as a reminder of bravery, service, and dedication to protecting the community.
