Downe Twp, N.J. — September 24 — The Downe Township Fire/Rescue and Dive Team responded today to a report that a van and trailer had rolled off a boat ramp and ended up submerged in Fortescue Creek.
Rescue Unit 39 (R39) arrived on scene to find the vehicle submerged, though all occupants were already out. The team deployed two divers and a safety diver to secure the van and trailer for removal.
With help from Battelini Towing, the vehicle and trailer were rigged and brought to the surface. Lawrence Township EMS stood by on scene, providing rehabilitation and medical support to the fire and dive crews.
Crews worked steadily for just over three hours to complete the operation. The successful recovery highlights the coordination required between marine, towing, and EMS units during water-submerged vehicle incidents.
