September 21, 2025 — On Sunday evening, Coeymans Hollow Volunteer Fire Corp. (CHVFC) responded to a brush fire with live power lines down near 10 Vanderzee Road.
Assistant Chief Williams (Car 6-02) was first on scene and confirmed a small area of brush burning alongside a severed power line. Central Hudson was requested to expedite its response, while New Baltimore Fire closed Saw Mill Road at Deans Mill to ensure public safety.
Engine 6-10 arrived shortly after and quickly knocked down the bulk of the flames, with Tanker 6-30 supplying water and manpower. As an added precaution, New Baltimore Fire was also requested to bring a tanker.
Fire crews efficiently contained the incident, preventing further spread, and returned to service once the scene was secured. Car 6-01 and Car 6-02 remained on site awaiting Central Hudson’s arrival to address the downed line.
The CHVFC thanked New Baltimore Fire, Cornell Hook & Ladder Fire Company, Ravena Rescue Squad, and the Albany County Sheriff’s Office EMS Division for their assistance.
