BELLWOOD, Pa. (Tuesday, Sept. 9) — Excelsior Fire Department crews responded early Tuesday after multiple 911 calls reported a large fire near the diesel pumps at the Bellwood Sheetz, officials said.
The alarm sounded at 3:11 a.m. Command 22 arrived to find a diesel exhaust fluid storage container and pump on fire. Staff had activated the emergency shutoff, and firefighters used a pressurized water can to slow the flames until additional crews arrived.
Engine 22, with five firefighters, deployed a bumper line to extinguish the fire while another crew used absorbent materials to block runoff from entering a storm drain. Tanker 22 was staged to supply water if needed and provided support to suppression crews.
Firefighters completed overhaul of the storage cabinet, confirmed the fire was fully out with thermal imaging, and cordoned off the diesel pumps. Crews then returned to the station to clean and prepare equipment.
