SHIRLEY, NY - On Friday, September 22nd at about 8:15 P.M., the Brookhaven Fire Department was activated for a vehicle fire on Smith Road, near the Wertheim national wildlife refuge. On arrival, Assistant Chief Guiseppe Loiacono found an involved auto. Engines were on the road in a short period of time, as they had recently returned from a previous alarm.
