Rock Hill Firefighters Cut Trapped Motorist Free in Complex 30-Minute Off-Road Extrication

ROCK HILL, NY — Fire and EMS crews extricated a driver following a single-vehicle crash involving a utility pole on September 16.

Rock Hill Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 6:55 a.m. and arrived to find the driver trapped in the vehicle. Firefighters stabilized the vehicle and used hydraulic rescue tools during an extrication operation lasting approximately 30 minutes.

Rock Hill Ambulance Corps and Sullivan County EMS treated the driver, who was later transported by LifeNet 7-5 to Westchester Medical Center. Monticello Fire Department established the helicopter landing zone at Resorts World Catskills.

Fallsburg Fire Department and the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office assisted with traffic control, while NYSEG responded to address the damaged utility pole and wires.
