PITTSBURGH (Thursday, Sept. 4) — Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze Thursday morning on the 100 block of Monastery Avenue, where flames tore through the roof of a three-story house, officials said.
Crews were dispatched just before 8:15 a.m. to find smoke and fire showing from the unoccupied residence. A second alarm was struck shortly after 9 a.m., and the fire was brought under control by about 9:45 a.m.
During the response, four firefighters came into contact with an electrical current. They were transported by Pittsburgh EMS to a hospital for evaluation and were listed in stable condition. All were expected to be released.
Investigators said the fire appeared to have started toward the rear of the home, though the exact cause remains under investigation. The blaze was contained to the single structure, and no civilian injuries were reported.
