Albany, NY-On August 30, 2025, at 12:38 AM, Engine two, engine five, rescue two, truck two, engine one, engine seven, truck one, Mohawk Ambulance Service, and the battalion chief was dispatched to 153 Clinton Avenue for multiple calls for a reported structure fire on the second floor. Multiple callers reported the kitchen was on fire. As multiple units were racing to the scene, the dispatcher notified all units that they are up to five calls on the fire. Engine two as they were coming down the street notified the dispatches that they had a significant smoke condition in the street and arrived on scene and notified the dispatcher that they had heavy fire pushing from the rear of the building and transmitted the signal thirty and to dedicate the frequency.
Engine two’s crew deployed an inch and three-quarter hand line to the second floor where they had heavy smoke and extreme heat banked down to the floor near the top of the landing. Additional resources began to arrive on scene and quickly made their way inside of the building and push past the crew on the second floor and began to conduct a primary search of the third floor above the fire floor. Firefighters made an aggressive interior attack on the second floor and began to knock down a significant portion of the heavy fire condition. Firefighters on the exterior portion of the structure notify the crew on the inside that they’re going to be opening up a hand line on the exterior portion of the structure to knock down some of the fire that had spread up into the roof line area and knocked down the fire on the exterior portion of the building.
As firefighters continued to work, firefighters secured the power and gas to the building. Firefighters notified command that the heavy fire condition and the bulk of the fire was knocked down and crews are beginning to open up the ceilings and the walls. Firefighters made their way into the exposure building and began to search the third floor to make sure that there was no fire that had extended into the structure. Firefighters checked the common attic area and notified command that they believe that they did not have any fire that had spread to the building. Firefighters continue to overhaul the main fire building for an extended period of time.
No injuries were reported, as firefighters went back into service command requested the units back to the scene as they had found fire that had extended into the adjacent structure and firefighters utilized an inch and three-quarter hand line and stop the spread of the fire before it could exceed into any other portion of the structure. The fire in the main fire building is under investigation at this time. No cause of the fire has been released publicly.
