Monmouth Junction, N.J — August 11 — Early on August 11th morning, the Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department was called to the Royal Oaks development's Laurel Court in response to a reported dryer fire in a second-floor apartment.

When police and fire chiefs arrived first, they verified that there was a functioning dryer fire and that there was a lot of smoke coming from the apartment. A first alarm was promptly sent out by command to send in more resources.

Engine 206 arrived first, stretched a hoseline, and put out the fire in a matter of minutes. Before removing the dryer from the house, firefighters checked for extension by opening the ceiling above it. In order to make sure no extension had spread through the vent system, personnel ascended to the roof of Tower 201, which was situated behind Engine 206, to inspect the dryer vent, which ended there.

Ladder 223 of Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Company, Chief 240 and Engine 245 of Kingston Volunteer Fire Company #1, and Ladder 23 of Monroe Township Fire District #3 were among the other units that responded. Shortly after three in the morning, all units left the area.
