Middlesex, N.J. — September 11— The Colonia Fire Department observed the 24th anniversary of the September 11th attacks by joining the annual Remembrance Walk on Thursday morning. Members of the Iselin District 9 Fire Department walked alongside them, traveling through the city in memory of those who lost their lives at the World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

The walk, held each year, continues to be a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by first responders and civilians on that day. Firefighters and officers moved together in formation, some carrying flags, while moments of silence were observed along the route.

Department leaders addressed participants at the conclusion of the event. They stressed the importance of readiness, inter-agency cooperation, and the duty to remember the events of September 11th. Officials noted that while the walk honors the fallen, it also serves to strengthen bonds between departments, ensuring they remain prepared for future large-scale incidents.

For members of the fire service and other emergency personnel, the annual walk underscores the lasting significance of duty and commitment. Even 24 years later, the memory of September 11th continues to shape the values of those who serve in uniform.
