MONROEVILLE, Pa. (Thursday, Sept. 18) — Monroeville Volunteer Fire Company #5 announced Thursday that it has been awarded a grant from the Gary Sinise Foundation to purchase eight Seek Thermal FirePro 300 thermal imaging cameras.
Officials said the cameras will help firefighters operate safely in hazardous conditions, locate individuals in smoke-filled environments and identify hidden dangers during emergency calls.
The grant was made possible through support from the Gary Sinise Foundation, Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Paul Skenes, Sunbelt Rentals and the Kamin family.
“This generous gift provides lifesaving tools that will help keep both our members and the public safe,” the department said in a statement. Company #5 also noted that Skenes signed the roof of its tiller cab during the announcement.
