Guarding the Lake: Oswego and Onondaga First Responders Coordinate Marine Detail

Oswego, NY - The Caughdenoy Volunteer Fire Department took to the water Saturday, deploying a dedicated marine rescue team to provide perimeter safety and emergency medical standby for the annual Oneida Lake Chicken Wing Run.

On September 19, Caughdenoy dispatched Water Rescue 1 (WR1) to establish an on-water safety presence across the lake. The specialized rescue craft was staffed by a three-member crew comprising 1st Assistant Chief H. Landers, Jr., Firefighter/EMT H. Landers III, and Firefighter J. Landers.

The crew operated as part of a coordinated, multi-jurisdictional marine detail organized to ensure maritime safety, monitor boater traffic, and provide immediate rapid-intervention capabilities during the large-scale public lake run.

The successful operational detail was conducted in close coordination with several regional emergency and law enforcement agencies, including the Brewerton Fire Department, Constantia Volunteer Fire Department, South Bay Fire Department, the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, and the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office.

Department officials reported a smooth, incident-free operational deployment, commending the event organizers, participants, and mutual aid partners for maintaining a safe environment throughout the day.
