Cherry Hill Firefighter Gary Miller Retires After 25 Years

The Cherry Hill Fire Department is proud to recognize Firefighter Gary E. Miller, Jr., who officially retired from active service effective September 1, 2025, after 25 years of dedicated service.
Firefighter Miller began his career as a Probationary Firefighter in March 2000, assigned to Ladder 1344 on the B Platoon. Before joining full-time, he volunteered with the Deer Park and Woodcrest Fire Companies and served as a minimum staff firefighter. Over the years, Miller served in several key assignments, including the Field Command Office, Ladder 1324, Squad Company 13, and Engine 1322.
Throughout his career, Miller earned three Departmental EMS Incident Individual Awards for life-saving CPR efforts, including one on a newborn child, and a Unit Citation for his role in a major hazmat incident response in Gloucester County.
Colleagues described him as a dedicated firefighter who consistently exemplified professionalism, teamwork, and a commitment to community service.
“Firefighter Miller’s legacy is one of service, courage, and compassion. His contributions have made a lasting impact on the department and the community we serve,” the department shared in a statement.
Miller’s last shift was due on August 30, 2025. The department and the Board of Fire Commissioners extended their gratitude and wished him success in his next chapter.
