Crash near Dennisville Lake sends multiple people to hospitals
DENNIS, N.J. (Sept. 4, 2025) — A vehicle crashed off Route 47 and through a guardrail Thursday afternoon, coming to rest near Johnson’s Pond with several people trapped inside, officials said.
Dennis Fire units were dispatched around 1:55 p.m. Squad 18 used the Jaws of Life to remove a rear door and assist EMS with patient extrication.
Because of the severity of injuries, two medical helicopters were requested. Ladder 18 established a landing zone at Union Cemetery for JeffStat4 and Cooper 1, which transported patients to an area hospital.
Other patients were taken by ground ambulances from AtlantiCare EMS and Inspira EMS.
Route 47 northbound was closed for about an hour while crews worked. New Jersey State Police also responded and are handling the investigation.
