On night of August 22, 2025 , Salem Fire & Rescue conducted intensive tactical training focused on the fundamentals of initial fire attack, critical thinking, and decision-making on the fireground.

The exercises allowed members to practice as a unified team, determining the best methods to attack and contain fires while deciding optimal apparatus placement for effective operations. Each participant had the opportunity to take the “hot seat,” leading efforts and making strategic decisions.

As a fully volunteer department, Salem Fire & Rescue emphasizes preparedness despite varying team availability due to members’ full-time jobs and other obligations. The department reaffirmed its commitment to having fully trained personnel ready to respond to the community’s emergencies.
