September 3, 2025 Hillside Fire Department Tour #4 conducted training on assembling hauling systems using ropes, coordinated by Training Officer Capt. E. Trela.

These systems are essential in firefighting operations, allowing crews to safely lift, lower, and move heavy loads such as downed firefighters, equipment, or victims during rescue scenarios. By practicing mechanical advantage, rope systems, and anchor points, the crew honed skills critical for efficiency and safety when every second counts.

Hillside’s terrain includes many confined spaces where standard rescue methods are not possible. In these situations, hauling systems provide the necessary mechanical advantage to remove a victim or firefighter quickly and safely.

The department commended all members for their dedication and performance during the training.
