September 3, 2025 — At approximately 6:00 p.m.,
The squirrels had been left stranded after their mother was struck by a vehicle the previous day. HFD members safely accessed the nest, ensuring the young animals were unharmed.
The squirrels were turned over to Animal Control, who will provide proper care to give them the best chance to grow and thrive.
The department praised the teamwork demonstrated during the rescue.
