PITTSGROVE TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sept. 2, 2025) — Firefighters spent three hours Tuesday night clearing spilled chicken parts from Harding Highway after a trailer lost its load, officials said.
Willow Grove Fire Company was requested by New Jersey State Police around 8:56 p.m. to assist with debris removal. Crews found discarded chicken parts scattered across the roadway and worked under the guidance of the Salem County Department of Health and Human Services.
Firefighters rinsed the roadway while establishing a dike to prevent runoff. The Monroeville Fire Company was called for additional water and manpower.
Once the product was cleared, the New Jersey Department of Transportation applied sand to the road surface.
