At 3:26 p.m., the East Rutherford Fire Department (ERFD) responded to the northbound lanes of the New Jersey Turnpike near Exit 16W for a multi-vehicle accident involving two commercial trucks that had caught fire. Firefighters from Rutherford, Carlstadt, and Wallington provided mutual aid at the scene, assisting with water supply operations. Additional coverage was supplied by a Passaic engine and a Rutherford ladder company, which remained on standby in town during the incident.
The ERFD expressed gratitude to all mutual aid partners for their support in managing the challenging response.
