PERTH AMBOY, N.J. (Sept. 3, 2025) — Firefighters contained a blaze Wednesday afternoon that broke out in a two-story home on Meade Street, displacing residents but causing no injuries, officials said.
The Perth Amboy Fire Department was dispatched at 2:26 p.m. to 192 Meade Street for a reported smoke condition. Arriving units found fire showing from the first floor and command transmitted a second alarm.
Crews stretched two hoselines, confining the fire to the first floor. Searches and ventilation were completed before the blaze was declared under control.
The displaced occupants are being assisted by city relocation officers and the Red Cross. The cause remains under investigation by the fire investigation unit.
Mutual aid came from Woodbridge and Hopelawn fire departments, while Sayreville crews covered the city.
