SPOTSWOOD, N.J. (Sept. 7, 2025) — Firefighters and hazardous materials teams worked for more than two hours Sunday after an automotive fluid spill stretched about one mile along Old Stage Road near Crescent Avenue, officials said.

Spotswood Volunteer Fire Department dispatched Rescue Engine 71-4 and Utility 71-7 around 12:54 p.m. Crews requested assistance from the Middlesex Hazardous Materials Unit and Middlesex County Firefighters Association/IAFF Local 3451.

A sand truck from the Middlesex County Road Department was also brought in to help contain the spill. The roadway was reopened once sand was applied.
