At the beginning of the month, the Linwood Fire Department took delivery of its new Car 5. Crews have been diligently working on outfitting the vehicle for service, and it will now serve as the department’s dedicated “First Responder” unit.
Car 5 will be dispatched to all emergency medical calls in town from 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., seven days a week. This service is provided in addition to the emergency medical services already offered by Atlanticare. The unit allows firefighters to respond quickly, render aid until Atlanticare EMS arrives, and assist EMS crews with moving patients and equipment during critical calls when time is vital.
The department began providing this service in early June and has already responded to more than 150 calls since its inception. This program has created valuable opportunities for the department to engage with the community and provide meaningful support during emergencies.
The Linwood Fire Department extends its gratitude to Mayor Matik and City Council for their unwavering support and continued investment in the department’s future. Appreciation is also given to Outlaw Graphics, LLC for their exceptional work on the graphics and decals that completed the vehicle. Car 5 was officially placed in service this week and is now fully operational.
