BYRAM TOWNSHIP, N.J. (Sept. 7, 2025) — Firefighters battled a truck fire early Sunday that closed part of eastbound Interstate 80 for several hours, officials said.

The blaze was reported around 12:22 a.m. near the 23.2 mile marker. Byram Fire Department crews arrived to find the vehicle fully engulfed and called for additional tankers from Allamuchy, Budd Lake and Hope Township.

The bulk of the flames was knocked down quickly, but firefighters remained on scene for extensive overhaul operations.

All units cleared the highway at about 3 a.m.
