Fairview Fire consumes almost 30 thousand acres

A brush fire that started Monday September 5th, 2022 consumed almost 30,000 acres. The fire destroyed 36 structures and damaged 8 others. Two people were killed while trying to escape the fire. Firefighters fought the blaze from both air and ground. Several air tankers assisted. Some LATS ( Large Air Tankers ) and VLATS ( Very Large Air Tankers ) dropped retardant lines. As of today, the fire is at 84% containment. Cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.
