Shirley, NY – Saturday, August 23rd – The Shirley Community Ambulance Company welcomed residents for a special open house, giving the community a behind-the-scenes look at its lifesaving operations.

Visitors had the chance to explore rescue vehicles on display, while children enjoyed the popular teddy bear clinic, where they practiced basic first aid on stuffed animals and took their “patients” home afterward. The Suffolk County Police Department also joined in, providing giveaways and safety literature. Families took part in face painting, games, and refreshments throughout the day.

The highlight of the event was the “Pie the Chief” fundraiser, where attendees donated for the chance to throw a pie at one of the company’s three chiefs—each of whom gamely took part to support the cause.

The open house brought together neighbors, first responders, and families for an afternoon of fun, education, and community spirit.
