August 22, 2025 — The Bloomfield Center Fire Department recently tested 17,180 feet of fire hose — more than three miles — to ensure equipment is ready when it’s needed most.
During the process, every section of hose was rolled out, filled, and pressurized to check for leaks, weak spots, and to confirm strong, steady water flow.
“Hose testing is one of those behind-the-scenes tasks that keeps our firefighters — and our community — safe,” the department said. “When seconds count, we can’t risk equipment failure.”
Bloomfield Fire also used the announcement to encourage community members to consider joining the department:
“We’re always looking for new volunteers to step up, train with us, and make a difference in Bloomfield.”
