August 25, 2025 — After a demanding week of mutual aid calls and consecutive days battling brush fires in neighboring towns, Deering Fire & Rescue reports that all equipment has been cleaned, restocked, and placed back in service.
On Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., Chief Robert Richards, Assistant Chief Kris Parece, Deputy Chief Pat Murdough, Captain James Wilcoxen, Firefighters Toby and Brandon Grendell, Firefighter/EMT Stephen Gallagher, and Engineer Danny Russell worked together to restore hoses, tools, and apparatus used in the two recent Weare brush fires.
Within two hours, the department was fully operational and ready to respond to the next call.
“Thank you to the members who keep this department operationally ready and continue to embody the spirit of neighbors helping neighbors,” the department said in its announcement. “If you are interested in stepping up to help when your neighbors are in need, please reach out. We are always ready to train the next generation of first responders.”
