September 12, 2025 — Deering Fire & Rescue announced the installation of a new dry hydrant, providing residents with an important additional water source for firefighting.
The department extended a “huge thank you” to Louellen and Peter Beard and Deering Fish and Game for making the project possible.
A dry hydrant is a non-pressurized pipe system permanently installed in a lake, pond, or stream, allowing fire departments to quickly access water in rural areas without a municipal water system. This new hydrant is capable of producing over 1,000 gallons per minute and will serve the town for years to come.
