September 11, 2025 — At 1:31 p.m. Thursday, Littleton Fire Rescue’s C-Shift was dispatched to a brush fire at 283 Alderbrook Road. At the time, both Ambulance 1 and Ambulance 2 were handling concurrent medical calls in town. Ambulance 1 had just returned when the still alarm was struck, allowing Engine 1 with two firefighters and Car 2 to respond.
Dispatch reported the fire was located roughly 500 yards from the roadway. Due to ongoing drought conditions and prior incidents at this location, a General Alarm was transmitted to bring in call members. Chief Miller established a command post after confirming the range was safe.
Firefighters from Ambulance 2 returned to the station and responded with the forestry UTV in the department’s utility truck, while call members arrived with Tanker 1. Crews located a small but deep-seated fire burning underground in an area cleared of brush but still containing dry tree and root material.
According to Chief Miller, the quick actions of on-site staff helped prevent a more serious incident:
“Given our drought conditions, full sun, and light winds, this fire could have had a terrible outcome. The staff’s actions covering the area with dirt slowed the spread of the fire, giving the department time to dig it out. I’m asking everyone to take this event as an important reminder to report any suspected wildland fires immediately.”
Crews remained on scene for just over an hour and plan to return tonight and tomorrow to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.
