TRUMBULL, Conn. (Sept. 8, 2025) — The Trumbull Town Council approved a tax abatement resolution Monday night aimed at supporting and retaining volunteer firefighters.
The measure was backed by Town Council Chairman Carl Massaro, Vice Chairman Mike Buswell, State Rep. Dave Rutigliano and the full council.
Long Hill Volunteer Fire Company said the resolution provides another tool to recruit and retain volunteers who “miss birthdays, dinners, and family events to help a neighbor in need.”
“Tonight, the Council sent a clear message of gratitude to every volunteer firefighter, and for that, we are truly grateful,” the department said in a statement.
