TRUMBULL, Conn. (Sept. 9, 2025) — Firefighters rescued three pets from a home after extinguishing a basement fire Tuesday afternoon on the 5000 block of Main Street, officials said.

Long Hill Fire Department was dispatched at 4:56 p.m. Crews arrived to find flames showing from two windows of a walk-out basement, according to Chief Sanfanandre.

Firefighters launched an interior attack while conducting a primary search, locating and returning the pets safely to the homeowner. The fire was quickly brought under control.

Units on scene included multiple engines, trucks and rescue companies. The Trumbull Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
