Moriches NY- on September 2, 2020 at about 4:52 PM the Mastic Fire Department was activated for a report of a vehicle fire in front of Moriches Elementary school at 16 Louis Ave. On arrival Chief Rudy Sunderman an involved auto. He advised the occupants were out of the vehicle.
Unit 5-12-2 was first due engine with Lt Rudy A Sunderman on board and was ordered to stretch a line on arrival at the school. On arrival Engine 2 did just that and made an aggressive attack. 5-12-10A was also dispatched to the scene and when they arrived the crew brought up the Hurst tools in case, they were needed to pop the hood open. A quick knock down was made of the fire. No injuries were reported, Louis ave was shut entering Moriches elementary for about an hour until the vehicle was removed by a tow truck.
