Multiple Hunterdon County Companies Operate at Route 31 Barn Fire

Firefighters from West Amwell, Amwell Valley, Delaware Township and additional mutual-aid companies operated for approximately four and a half hours at a large pole-barn fire along Route 31.

Companies were dispatched at approximately 1:38 p.m. on September 9, 2026, to Fire Box 4826 in the Ringoes area of Hunterdon County, New Jersey. First-arriving personnel encountered a 30-by-80-foot barn heavily involved in fire.

West Amwell Chief 26 arrived and established command. With conditions requiring defensive operations, crews positioned apparatus for exposure protection, water supply and master-stream operations.

Amwell Valley Engine 48 provided exposure protection, while West Amwell Quint 26 positioned in the roadway and placed its elevated master stream in operation. West Amwell Engine 26 established a supply line to the quint. Amwell Valley Engine 48-1 and Tender 48-1 were also documented as operating during the incident.

Firefighters from West Amwell Fire Company, Amwell Valley Fire Company and Delaware Township Fire Company were among the departments operating at the scene, along with additional mutual-aid resources. Crews continued suppression and overhaul operations involving remaining fire and material within the agricultural structure.

Companies operated for approximately four and a half hours before clearing the incident. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported in the incident account.
